Peter and Claudia Needham, natives of Massachusetts, came to North Conway in
1993 with their two daughters Kate (then 5) and Amanda (then 8) to purchase The
Buttonwood Inn on Mt. Surprise. Peter's experience in manufacturing, hospitality,
and property management coupled with Claudia's experience in teaching, banking, and
sales, proved to be a winning combination in successfully running The Buttonwood Inn.
In August of 2002, Peter and Claudia sold the inn. They stayed in the area and
purchased a two unit chalet.
While they owned the inn, and traveled with their children, Peter and Claudia discovered
that renting a house offered a more affordable and flexible travel experience for their
family. Even when Peter and Claudia got away by themselves, they liked to find rentals that
would give them the peace and quiet and privacy they were looking for. As a family they enjoyed
not having to go out to dinner every night and the freedom of eating breakfast in their pajamas.
With all of that in mind, they began the renovations of the chalet, with the intention of creating
units that reflected the best of their rental experiences when they traveled as a family and as a
couple. The result is Abbott Brook Vacation Rentals. They hope you agree.
